The college, governed by the Satchikitsa Prasarak Mandal was inaugurated at the hands of late Pandit Ravi Shankar Shukla, the then Chief Minister in the earst while C.P. & Berar State; on 1st September 1954, the course was DHB. The pioneer of this college is Late Dr. K. L.Daftari, the great Sanskrit scholar, who had preached and propogated Homoeopathic system of medicine in this region.

The first Homoeopathic Act to grant official recognition and status to Homoeopathy was passed in this State of Maharashtra by the efforts of the then Minister for Public Health, Late Dr.W.S.Barlingey who was also a member of the Mandal, Governing this Institution.

The college is conducting Homoeopathic Degree Course approved by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, as ‘Regulations’ under clauses (i) & (k) of section 33 and sub section (1) of section 20 of the Homoeopathy Central Council Act, 1973 and published by the Central Council of Homoeopathy in Part III of Section 4 of the Gazette of India dated 11th May, 1983.

The activities of S.P.Mandal were outstanding during the years, diploma course DHMS of 4 years duration was started in 1971 recognised by the Central  Council of Homoeopathy in 1983 and the Homoeopathic degree course BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine & Surgery) of 5 ½ years duration affiliated to the Nagpur University was started in 1985.  This is the first Institution imparting degree education in Homoeopathy faculty in the Vidarbha Region.  The S.P. Mandal could achieve all this in a short span of time because of the efforts & broad vision of the Hon’ble President of the Mandal Shri Ghanshyamdas Panpaliya & his team of management, teachers & students.
